New Horizons 2017 Featured Artist

In 2015, the VCCS Office of Professional Development began a new tradition of honoring one of our own faculty members as the featured artist for New Horizons, the premier teaching and learning conference of the Virginia Community College System. 2015 featured Autumn Over Warm Springs, a stunning work by artist Fred Nichols, former Piedmont Virginia Community College faculty. The tradition continued in 2016 with Tammy Park’s Virginia Sunrise, which encapsulated the “50 Years of Progress and Promise” conference theme.

We are delighted to announce that Rosemary Gallick, art and art history faculty at Northern Virginia Community College, is the 2017 New Horizons Featured Artist. Rosemary’s work Raging Rapids stood out to the judging panel with its turbulent depiction of unknown new horizons and, in the words of the artist, an “emotional response to facing unknown territories.”
