New Horizons Conference 2022

Building Opportunity: New Horizons 2022, hosted by the VCCS Student Success Center

April 6-8, 2022  |  The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center in Roanoke, VA

New Horizons began as a technology conference to help us learn how to include new and innovative technology into our classrooms. Over time, it has evolved into the premier teaching and learning conference focused on student success. Through all the changes, the most valuable part of the event is being together and sharing our knowledge and experience to help us all be better at this important life changing, community building work we do each day.

After all that we have been through together in the last two years, we are excited to gather once again at Hotel Roanoke Conference Center on April 6-8, 2022.* We invite all VCCS employees to attend since student success involves everyone: faculty, staff, student services professionals, workforce professionals, administrators, and leadership. The New Horizons conference will be an opportunity to once again learn from one another, share our ideas, seek inspiration, and encourage each other to keep making a difference in our little corner of the world.

This year New Horizons has been redesigned to give us more opportunities to do those things that make time together rich and meaningful. You told us that you wanted more time to connect with one another, more presentations that fuel ideas and focus conversations, awards that are a celebration of the excellent work we all do, and just the opportunity to be inspired. Those ideas have been foundational to the new agenda and programming that will drive this experience.

Our theme, Building Opportunity, supports Virginia’s Community Colleges Opportunity 2027 Strategic Plan. Programming will focus on four key areas that support student success: Knowledge, Connection, Inclusivity, and Collaboration.

* It is our plan to be fully in-person at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center in Roanoke, VA. We are planning the event in new ways to provide for everyone’s safety and comfort. Of course, our team will monitor CDC and VDH guidelines and announce any changes if needed.
